Start slowly
Welcome back, dear leader.
It’s possible that, today, you’re feeling a mix of emotions as you aim to 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬.
Perhaps you, like me, are grateful for the time you took away, yet now feel a little rusty getting back into the swing of things.
Perhaps we can share a laugh about how, despite having taken time to rest, we still feel tired and wildly unproductive today. 🙃
Isn’t it funny how, even at a brand new beginning, we can still have a feeling of being “𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥”?
I take comfort in knowing that swift action often builds upon the sturdiness and steadiness of a strong foundation. Strong foundations get reinforced with slow, intentional starts that aim us in the direction we desire.
Here’s my invitation to you and to myself:
𝙇𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙮, 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙚?
This is the part of the journey where we lay the foundation for what’s to come in the rest of 2025. Often, we stumble at the start. It may not always look glamorous, but the stumbles and restarts are essential for all that comes next.
🌱 Slow starts are plentiful in the natural world around us and are key to supporting sustainability, regeneration, and viability.
🌱 Slow starts allow what’s freshly planted to be nurtured so it can properly take root.
🌱 Slow starts allow opportunity for increased inclusion of what could easily be missed when acting in haste.
🌱 Slow starts allow our bodies to regulate and metabolize what’s newly added to the system so that we do not reject the very change we seek to incorporate.
I’ve discovered that giving myself extra time at the start leads to powerful acceleration along the path. Often, the only thing holding me back from allowing that slowness is me.
So today, I invite you to join me in embracing a slow start so that we can give ourselves the clarity and conviction we’ll need to navigate all that’s yet to come.
