Invest in yourself

In the earliest days of my entrepreneurship journey, I met with a dear friend who works as a wealth advisor.

This friend has a special brilliance and kind-heartedness in all aspects of financial planning. In her career, she has supported many high net-worth clients and families through many seasons of their lives and legacy-building.

In our chat, I asked her what kinds of decisions her clients made that led to them creating such incredible wealth. She pondered it for a second and then offered me a gem of wisdom that I’ve held onto ever since.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛.

She explained that her clients invested in resources to support their health, their energy, their learning, and their overall well-being, recognizing that these investments fueled their ability to stay the course when building their respective endeavors.

Over my first 18 months as an entrepreneur, the biggest expense in my business has been in my own learning and development, and I find the return on that investment to be striking.

When I expand my knowledge, my energy skyrockets. I feel lit up inside, filled with an eagerness to share what I’ve learned with others. My creativity comes forward, ideas get clearer, and I experience tremendous joy. I can see so many ways that these feelings and ideas get channeled into the services and supports I then choose to share with the world. Such investments, I’ve found, are vital to the vitality with me and within what I am building.

If you’re feeling like your tank is a little low, start with 𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

Ask yourself: 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩, 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺, 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨?

Maybe it’s a short walk and several deep breaths. Maybe you register for that event or appointment you’ve been meaning to calendar. Maybe you read an article on a topic you enjoy. However you choose to spend the time, the goal is to spend it on YOU.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀. Intentional investments in what matters to you can provide short-term gains and can compound massively over time.
